I have been getting the Quilty Box subscription now for four months. I have purchased a couple of boxes in the past, but hadn't subscribed until recently. Honestly some of gadgets are interesting, but many I probably wouldn't buy. However I did see in a month before I subscribed that the MQC's binding tool was included (I already have two sizes), so I do think they have great value.
In the last box was a jelly roll of some Kona strips and a pattern focused on the Color of the Year, Flamingo. I've been wanting to dig into it for the last couple of days, but today I finally did some sewing. It is a very easy pattern, and the top was finished within about two hours. I think I may send this one down to my granddaughter who is ready for a bigger girl quilt.
I haven't decided if I will make a larger strip border to frame or leave it as is. I would like to make it a little larger than the 46ish"x62ish". Though the yellow in this quilt (Buttercup) is slightly more subdued than last year's COTY (Highlight), I may try out some strips of it and see how it goes. I don't think I have any solid pinks on hand.
The other pink is pretty bright (my camera really didn't capture the colors well here), and is called Pomegranate.
Anyway, this makes my first quilt start for 2017.
What a cute, easy quilt. I wasn't sure about the Flamingo color, but this is a nice combination.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm still not sure about Flamingo. It reminds me too much of 50's pink and I have never really been a fan. I like it with yellow though! LOL! I am a fan of yellows :)
DeleteFun to get your Quilty box and make the quilt so fast! I entered at Quiltville Blog to win the Quilty Box. Maybe I'll get Lucky. lol
ReplyDeleteI still have one strip of flamingo left over, I could send it to you as a consolation prize if you don't! LOL! The seam ripper was a nice addition, I am due for a new one.
DeleteThis is sure to become a favorite quilt! So bright and happy. This is a good cuddle quilt size right now.
